The Selfie Poses phenomenon and the various types we encounter on social media
The word Selfie Poses has now entered common parlance. It usually means photograph which was taken of oneself, typically with the aid of timer or selfie stick and intended for social media sharing.
Even the VIPs couldn’t resist the selfie craze. Undoubtedly the best known are by Pope Francis and Obama. We all know the world’s most famous group selfie that was taken on Oscar Night 2014 by Ellen DeGeneres with Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt, Lupita Nyong’O, Peter N’yongO, Jared Leto, Jennifer Lawrence, Channing Tatum, Meryl Streep, and Angelina Jolie.
Selfie Poses for boys
The essential element of any selfie is for a guy is to act themselves. Your personality will show up in the selfie invariably. Hence beingunnatural and trying to look like someone else is not going to work at all except being labeled as a poor imitation. Embrace your body and your features. Once you do that you will not try so hard to hide something you dislike (such as not having deltoids like Chris Hemsworth).
With acceptance, your inner radiance will come through, and these are not empty words, I promise you.
Selfie Poses for girls
Sort of the same holds true for girls though they are of course free to use makeup to hide any shortcomings (real or imagined). But do not overdo it, please. There are too many selfie Poses for girls out there of young ones trying to look like a celeb and ending up looking worse than she actually looks. Smile a bit and cut back on the attitude. Everyone loves a smiling happy face. We have enough attitude to cope with in daily life as it is instead of it peering to us from phone screens and tablets.
Types of selfie
Duck Face
Suck in your cheeks and pout just a wee bit to get a perfect Duck Face selfie. Duck face sort of tries to look ironic or nonchalant but at the same time be playful. It tries to show the subject as someone who knows how to have fun and be slightly quirky at times – a bit like Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) from Fast and Furious.
Car Selfies Poses
The Car Selfies Or a carfie has become a social phenomenon of sorts. The usual poses are camera positioned below and to the right of the driver at about same height as the air vent controls while the subject is in the driver’s seat. The other type is taken from the camera in the same position, but the subject sitting in the rear seat with one leg tucked under her.
Over Explained Selfie Poses
A staple of Instagram it explains in detail why she is wearing the makeup, lipstick, and earrings which find her in. It is little lacking in self-confidence if the subject cannot let the picture do the talking. Seriously folks explain a bit less and make us wonder. What do you think would have happened if Leonardo Da Vinci had stuck a note under Mona Lisa telling us what her mystic smile meant?
Fur Baby Selfie Poses
Also known as “I love my dog/cat selfie.” Taken with a feline or canine in the lap or being tightly held against the cheek, the purpose of this selfie is one presumes to be perceived as a sensitive animal lover.
Bragging Beach Legs Selfie Poses
Taken on a beach with the camera facing the legs it shows a mile long expanse of smooth tanned skin stretched out toward the ocean. It says I have toned legs and I have a lot of time to kill, and this is how I do it. The message is not hard to understand, but no two legs look the same or do they? How do we know they are yours?
Bathroom Mirror Selfie Poses
A favorite of guys as well as girls it is taken inside a well-lit bathroom without using flash. Usually, the pose is in Turkish towel with as much exposure as the subject feels comfortable with. Of course, this selfie ends at the waist and aims to show us what the subject looks like in a natural state after a pristine bath.
Food Next To Your Face Selfie Poses
We never knew that a slice of watermelon could be used as a prop until this one came along. Same holds true for everything from holding tacos near the nose to peering through bagels. This selfie is the one that has most intrigued psychologists and even has a name – foodstagramming! The reasons behind it are myriad from not so subtle sexual cues such as biting into an apple to saying look I eat healthy since I have a plate full of raw cabbages next to my face.
Lazy Sunday Selfie Poses
Taken in the garden, park, joyride, roller coaster, drive-in movie, mall, local KFC and anywhere except the local library it screams I am relaxing. Usually posted on Sunday evening in social media the subject may have on a floppy hat or beach attire for the uber casual look.
Gym Selfie Poses
Trying to pose while doing a triceps cable press. This one is hard to do whether you are in the middle of a push-up or benching 300 lbs. Most give up on an exercise selfie and instead opt for a gym mirror selfie which is a poor substitute. The most adventurous ones are with a timer while running on a treadmill. It is hard to keep your composure when running flat out at 5 miles an hour.
Celeb Selfie Poses
A suave smile (for guys) and a coquettish look (from girls) is the brief description of this selfie. Taken when one is well dressed and groomed it tries to turn the subject into a David Beckham or Beyonce (or should that be Ariana Grande).
Six-pack Selfie Poses
A.k.a the ultimate testosterone selfie. Take off your shirt, suck in your stomach, hold your breath and wait for the timer to count down. If you are really fit put interlock your fingers behind your head with elbows out to the side. But you would need magnificent pectorals to pull that off.
